Either way, here's something I had to do after witnessing BioWare's downright disgraceful treatment of Thane's romance arc. Why, BioWare, why?
This one's inspired by Thane's line in ME2 when talking about vacations "I'd very much like to see a desert," he says. Neither he nor Shepard has time for vacations when huge, robot monster squids attack, though. This is the best she can do... circumstances being what they are.
I was thinking of making two or more of these and put in more "frames", making it more like a comic. However, I coincidentally learned about the Thane Fanbook Project during the process, so I decided to contribute and keep it like this due to the limited time frame. I might do another version if I still need to get it out of my system.
PS. I cried like a silly babby and had to put down the controller for a few minutes when you-know-what happened. I wasn't even romancing Thane in my first playthrough! D:
Awesome writing right there (unlike the romance).
Used Photoshop CS5 and Wacom tablet + a crapload of screenshots for reference.
I completely agree with you. that's why im writing him a better ending. heehee. I love this.
this is just lovely
Thanks for the fave
Beautiful fucking job man, seriously perfection. Much love for your amazing face.
Thank you for the comment. :3
Much love for your amazing face,
I'll stay hopeful for DLC or some acknowledgment of some kind... I dunno. Just something.
The one thing that bothers me the most, however, is that there is absolutely no reaction from either Shepard nor the crew after Thane's death. Save for stabbing said Lt. Bastard.
If I could have my Shepard actually be upset about it (it was jarring when I, as the player, was crying my eyes out while Shepard merrily went on to chat up the crew), I'd be very much fine with it. Right now it seems like BioWare just plain forgot about him.
Anyways, enough with my rant. I love they way you made the "camera shots" if you call it that, and the lightning. It gives it an ethereal feel to the piece. Makes it very lovely. I especially love the panel where Shep pours sand into Thane's hand. The piece is very beautifully done. Heck, maybe you should forward this piece to BioWare and help them get better ideas in the future. lol XD
I agree with you on this one, 100%. In a perfect world, there'd be no chance in hell Shepard would just stand by and let the love of her life die. Galactic war or not. Just no, BioWare. It's Commander frigging Shepard! As you said, they science'd her back to life, curing Thane can't be impossible!
The fact that all those 'cure hints' amounted to nothing was really disappointing. Sure, him dying was one of the most powerful moments in the game. It just didn't NEED to happen in a romanced playthrough. I cried enough when he was just Shepard's friend. FemShep got so shafted in the LI department. No argument there.
That said, this is my way of dealing with what we got. Thank you kindly for the feedback! :3
Hugs are always appreciated. :3
Thank you for taking the time to look at my contribution!
Thanks for contributing this to the Fanbook. It's absolutely beautiful. Riara will have your page back to you soon, and I'll proofread it after.

You know that something ended poorly when the romance were the LI dies becomes the best and happiest romance.
*sits in dark corner* I'm coming to you soon Thane.
Yeah I guess none of us can complain about the game lacking impact.
If it's not dark and angsty, then people won't feel its emotional enough. -.-
Needless to say, I want to see more happy endings around. But this is just my opinion. >.>
